Information

Almost 140,000 fans gathered together at Maracanã to watch Pelé playing his first and only game for Flamengo. The King paused his retirement to play alongside legends like Zico (who gave away his number 10 to Pelé), Júnior, Carpegiani, Tita and Andrade against the Atlético Mineiro of Paulo Isodoro, Cerezo, Luizinho and João Leite, also Brazilian football legends. This match also features the likes of Toninho (WC 1978 Brazil National Team starter), Júlio César "Uri Geller" (regarded as one of the best driblers in Brazilian football history), Rondinelli, Dario "Dadá Maravilha" and Cláudio Adão (two prolific goal scorers of the 1970s). Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro would soon be fearsome rivals and symbols of the "Futebol Arte" as the two best teams in Brazil in the 1980s, with 6 out of the 11 starters of the 1982 WC Brazil National Team coming from them, although some core pieces from this golden era didn't arrive yet at the time of this game or didn't play. This match was arranged to gather money and food to help the victims of a terrible flood in Minas Gerais (Atlético Mineiro's home state) and Espírito Santo states.
