Information

After a historical 1980, Flamengo started 1981 with a traumatic elimination in the Brazilian national championship and losing one of the best defensive midfielders of Brazilian football in the 1970s - and a legendary player for Flamengo and Internacional - Carpegiani - due to a series of knee injuries. The Mengão now wanted to turn the things around and, inspired by the proverbial phrase "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", signed the retired Carpegiani to head coach duties. He would become one of the best coaches ever for Flamengo, Cerro Porteño and the Paraguay national team. His retirement as a player also led to Andrade being an undisputed starter and created one of most recognizable duos in the 1980s in Brazilian football with Adílio. This match features basically the best Flamengo ever (1980-1983) of Zico, Júnior, Tita, Mozer & Co., with Leandro playing as a central defender - his original position was right defender. The Campo Grande team would be the 1982 Brazilian National Second Division champion. The best player was Pingo, consumption dream of many great Brazilian teams, he would remain with Campo Grande untill he signed with Bangu in 1985 and became one of the highlights of their surprising 1985 Brazilian National First Division campaign. Other good players were Touchê and Sergio Ramírez, former Flamengo and Uruguay national team member.
